You can Create a List for any person, any event or any occasion. You can create shopping lists or wish lists for yourself, gift lists for the ones you love, or lists for special events like a housewarming party. In fact, there's no limit to the type or number of lists you can create.

How do I get started creating a list?
You must first sign in to Create a List using your Target.com or Amazon.com account number. If you don't already have a Target.com account, you can Create an Account and then just follow the steps to create your profile and begin making lists.
How do I create a list for another person or an organization?
You must first sign in to Create a List using your Target.com or Amazon.com account. If you don't already have a Target.com account, you can Create an Account and then just follow the steps to create your profile. Once you've signed in and/or created your profile, you'll be asked "Who is this list for?" Simply choose one of the following options from the drop-down menu:- Your child
- Friend or family member
- An organization
What's the difference between a public list and a private list?
Public lists can be viewed by anyone and are searchable both online and at store kiosks. Private lists can only be viewed when sent via e-mail or by entering a TargetList ID Number in the search field on the Find a List page. For your privacy, guests will not be able to view your street address, phone number or e-mail address.
How long will my TargetList be saved?
Your list will remain active as long as there is any list activity. If you entered an event date for your list (i.e. for a birthday, graduation, etc.), it will remain active and searchable for up to 90 days after the event date. You will always receive an e-mail notification before your list is deleted allowing you to reactivate your list.
Tips
- Customize your list by adding comments to each product. Make sure you get what you want by noting the exact color, size or style.
- Create as many lists as you want. There's no limit.
- For your protection, personal information about you or the individual for whom you are creating a list will not be available to anyone searching or viewing your list.
How do I find someone else's list?
You can Find a List online by entering the name or e-mail address of the person whose list you're looking for, or by entering their specific TargetList ID Number (if they have a private list). You can also search for lists using the same methods at a registry kiosk in any Target store.
How do I find a list created for an organization?
You can Find a List for an organization online by entering the name of the organization, or by entering the specific TargetList ID Number (if it's a private list). You can also search for lists using the same methods at a registry kiosk in any Target store.
What is a "TargetList ID Number?"
A TargetList ID Number is a 15-digit number that is unique to each list and is most often used to find a private list. The only way you can Find a List that has been designated as a private list is by entering that person's specific TargetList ID Number.
How do my family and friends view my list online?
There are two ways for your friends and family to view your list online:
- The easiest way for them to view your list online is for you to E-mail a List to them with a link to your list embedded in the e-mail.
- They can also Find a List by entering the name or e-mail address of the person whose list they're looking for, or by entering the specific TargetList ID Number (if you have a private list).
How do my family and friends view my list in stores?
Your friends and family can Find a List at any registry kiosk. They simply enter the name or e-mail address of the person whose list they're looking for, or by entering the specific TargetList ID Number (if you have a private list).
What is the Target return policy?
A receipt is required for all returns and exchanges, so be sure to save all your receipts. Make sure you also have a photo ID and that your items are new, unused and in original packaging with any accessories (some items cannot be returned if opened). Online only items must be returned to Target.com, they cannot be returned to a Target store. Please read our Return Policy for more details.
Tips
- You can make your list public or private. Public lists are searchable and viewable by others. Private lists can only be viewed by entering the correct List ID Number.
- If you create a private list, make sure you share your List ID Number with the people you would like to see it.
- If a list is meant for more than one person, you can invite up to 3 people to share it. Sharing a list is perfect for roommates, couples or work groups.
How do I add items to my list online?
You must first sign in to Create a List using your Target.com or Amazon.com account. If you don't already have a Target.com account, you can Create an Account and then just follow the steps to create your list profile. Once you've signed in and/or created your list profile, find items on the site you want to add to your list. On the item's product page, choose "Add to TargetLists" and then select the list you want to add the item to.
How do I add items to my list in stores?
Print off your list barcode (see next question) and take it to the Guest Service desk at any Target store to request a scanner. Then start scanning items in the store to add them to your list. After you've finished scanning, return the scanner to the Guest Service desk. You can then print your list at the kiosk. If you want to view your list online, it may take up to four (4) hours for your items to appear online after you scanned them in a store.
How do I print my list barcode online?
To print your list barcode online, select the list you want from Your Lists, then click "Add Items to List. " On the "Add Items to List" page, click "Print List Barcode" on the right hand side of the page. Take this printout to the Guest Service desk at a Target store to receive a scanner and begin adding items to your list in the store.
How do I print my list barcode in stores?
Once you have created your list at a registry kiosk in any Target store, your list barcode will print automatically. Take this printout to the Guest Service desk to receive a scanner and begin adding items to your list in the store.
How do I remove items from my list?
To remove items from your list, select the list you want to view from Your Lists, then click "View List." When you can see the items on your list, check the box to the left of the item you want to remove and click "Delete Selected Items" at the bottom of the page.
How do I add notes or comments to my list?
To add a note, use Your Lists to select which list you want to add a comment to, then click "Add a Note." You can add notes and comments about sizes, colors, style preferences or other miscellaneous items. If you want a book, music or DVD, add a note with the title of the item you want.
Tips
- Add as much as you want. There's no limit to the number of items on a list.
- Each list gets a unique bar code. You can print this barcode in any store at the registry kiosk or from your own computer. Use the barcode to check out a scanner and add items to your list in stores.
- It's easy to add books, music or DVDs to your list with the "add a note" button. Just enter the title of the item so people know exactly what you want.
How do I manage my lists online or in stores?
You can manage your lists online 24/7, or visit one of our over 1,400 store locations to manage your lists at a registry kiosk. To update or manage a list, go to Your Lists and select "View All of Your Lists." Then, from the "Manage Your Lists" page, select the specific list you want to manage. From this same page you can also choose to e-mail a list to a friend or family member, or select the lists you want to delete by checking the box to the left of the list name, then clicking "Delete Selected Lists."
What if I need to update my TargetList profile?
If your contact information changes, select "Update List Profile" under Your List Profile, then make any necessary edits. You can also update your profile at a registry kiosk in any Target store, or call our guest contact center at 1-800-888-9333 for help with TargetLists. However, please note that you cannot edit your address information online or using the kiosk. You must call our guest contact center to update your address information.
Tips
- If you are creating a list for someone else, you can have the gifts sent to their address. When you set up the list profile, make sure you enter their info in the shipping address section.
- Be sure to check your list regularly. There might be new items you want to add, or items that have been discontinued.
